View Full Version : Hoopla! - Session 5
HoopScoop

Hoopla! Session 5 will encompass games on January 27th and 28th. This time, 6 games will be played. And if I looked at the schedule correctly, 6 games will be played for the rest of the Hoopla! sessions. So everyone can be picked from all available Big 12 players from now on.
The 15th best Hoopla! player for session 5 is Jia Perkins with a 15.3 avg. So your starting team cannot exceed 76.5 (15.3 times 5) total Hoopla! points per average. And your reserve will need to have a 15.3 average or lower. For newcomers, refer to the rules in an earlier thread (http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000002.html) here on the Hoopla! Board. You can obtain up-to-date Hoopla! stats by looking for the "HPLA" statistical column in Interactive Stats (http://hoopscoop.net/big12wbb/istats.html). List stats by "Season box score" for all players and all positions. Click the box for "All Big 12 Teams" and sort by "Hoopla! Points".
Please, if you haven't played yet, do so! Hoopla will have 13 different sessions, but you will not have to have played all 13 sessions to be an overall winner. Maybe we should say you need to play at least half of the sessions or some number less than 13. We can come up with that later.
Games for Session 5 are:
TTU @OU
CU @ISU
TAMU @OSU
UT @BU
KU @KSU
MU @NU

Once you play a couple of sessions, it doesn't take near the time to search for a few players. Plus I think it will help you have fun if you like to follow the Big 12 as a whole rather than just your own team.

Man, I had a hard time making up my mind - too many intriguing matchups. The game of the week is TTU and OU, yet I picked no players from either team cuz you almost never know who may have a hard time against the two great defenses. So I went with players I thought would have easier times against the teams they are playing.
And even then, I almost took Faulk and Roulier over Lassiter and Sare. But with Roulier against ISU, I was just to hesitant. Faulk should have a good game against A&M at home. Thought Lassiter will have a field day in Lincoln and Sare only has to contribute just a little to make her a worthwhile addition to the lineup.
My Session 5 lineup:
<pre style="font size: 10pt;">
P Arnold 12.1
G Williams, Toccara 14.3
F Lassiter 21.1
F Crockrum 28.6
G Sare 0.1
Total 76.2
Reserve: Unrau 13.1

BEAR SKIN - hate to be picky but you do have to have one person that is a post or even just a post/forward combo player. Turn one of your guards into a post and stay under the 76.5 Hoopla! total and your submission will count.

I don't know about that. She could have a great day shooting against ISU's zone (although I hope not, of course). I may pick her for my team, but it could be difficult picking a player that I'll be rooting against.

Roulier is a little bit too inconsistent for me to go with her although she had a great game against Nebraska. So she is probably either going to play real well or maybe a bit below average against ISU. Lassiter is a little more consistent and is playing against Nebraska - which is a matchup I like for her. The big downside to Lassiter is she has a horrible FG% that really hurts her Hoopla! total.

There is one rule amendment I am thinking about -- but I wouldn't implement it until next season. That is, still take away a point for a missed field goal...but, 1 point if it is a missed 2 point shot and 0.5 point taken away if it is a missed 3-point shot. I say that because 3-point FG% is almost always less than FG% and guards are probably getting hurt more for taking 3s, while forwards and posts are usually taking easier shots inside.
I'll rerun the stats just to see how different it would make the averages right now and let people take a gander. But again, I won't implement this change this season.

Hey, mred, isn't Banahan out for the season with an ACL injury? You may want to make a substitution.
I was wondering if there was a way we could flag players in the stats (like Banahan and Texas' Anissa Hastings) who are out for the season so people don't mistakenly pick them?
