How incredibly sad for NASA and the families of the 7 astronauts on board. I can still remember exactly what I was doing the day they announced the Challenger explosion. Just kind of made me numb the rest of the day.

One of the astronauts has a sister and neice that live in Oklahoma City and they have been interviewing her.

So sad, I hope they figure out exactly what went wrong.

Shuttle Astronaut and Flight Surgeon Laurel Clark was born in Ames, and an aunt and uncle still live here.

After living in Ames, her family moved to Racine, WI, where she graduated from high school. Racine is where my church is, and it's where I'm moving in about a month.

I read the article that was published in the Saturday DO (before the disaster) about the niece of Michael Anderson and it just broke my heart for that little girl.

Not to sound insenative or anything, but why is this such a huge media event, and not plane crashes where hundreds die, not seven. Or what about the war we're about to start, where thousands will die. I feel incredibly sorry for the families that lost memebers to the crash, but these kinds of tragedies happen to lots of normal people, they just don't get the media attention. (yes, I'm a bleeding heart liberal college student that obviously has no morals)
