I'm having to consolidate a lot of changes I've made over the years including where I put smilies, icons, etc.
Just to clarify - from this point forward - team icons can be used in posts by doing the following..... type a colon followed by capital letters designating a team and then a final colon.
BU for Baylor
CU for Colorado
KU for Kansas
KSU for Kansas State
ISU for Iowa State
NU for Nebraska
MU for Missouri
OU for Oklahoma
OSU for Oklahoma State
TAMU for Texas A&M
TTU for Texas Tech
UT for Texas

If anyone wants me to add more icons and smilies just point me to the location. They are easy to add.

Is there a B12 icon somewhere? If not, how do you go about adding one if I create it? Does it have to live somewhere with a URL address to be pulled from? Thanks.

I have to load it onto the website and point to it from the forum software. Something I can only do. But I'm definitely willing to load as many icons and smilies and whatever people want me to. They either have to email it to me or send me a PM or give me the URL of where it is.
I haven't loaded a big 12 icon yet. But I can take the one from the animated gif. Maybe make a large and small version of it.

That sounds good! If you need me to do anything to it, like clip out the white background and replace it with the blue shade we have on HoopScoop, let me know and I'll send you the gif to size to the proportion you need.

Okay - I'll do the Big 12 icon.
Actually - I'll be making transparent GIFS of all icons. I don't want to give away too much - but new color selections (besides the default blue) will be coming to HoopScoop soon. Best to make transparent GIFS rather than a different icon very every possible color.

Wow! I'm excited to see everything when it's all finished. Good work Commish!
I fixed the team icon in my sig line so it is working again. But I just tried to use one of the smilies from the right of the 'reply' box in one of my posts and couldn't get it to show up in the text. I did what I think I used to do ... had the cursor in the text where I wanted it and left clicked on the smilie I wanted. Nothing happended. Help!

I've added a Big 12 icon. It can also be posted as a smilie. Or you can simply refer to it as :BIG12: in your posts.

BeBe - It should be working. I had to reload all the smilies when I transferred the website. Maybe there is a cache problem for your browser. Shouldn't be - but maybe.
Simply do a SHIFT and reload of the page in your browser. In other words, hit your shift key and at the same time click on the refresh icon for your browser.
GO :BIG12: GO :BIG12: :GOBIG12: :D
We all have our ways of testing. ;)

Commish, may I make another suggestion?
Right now, we are restricted in only being allowed 10 icons per post. There are occassions when referring to all 12 teams in respective posts and it would be nice if it allowed for 12 instead of just 10. Better yet, since you've now added the B12 icon, allowing 13 icons would be a good limit. However, there may be a reason I'm not aware of that only allows the 10 we now have.
thank you,

I didn't realize I could control that. But makes sense that I can. So be it.

Prompted by curiosity, what are the :snow: , :KCSTAR: and "DN" icons meant to convey?
HoopScoop

The snowflake is just for my snow post in off-topic. I'll reorder it so it shows up last when making posts.
The star is the icon for the Kansas City Star. I'm accepting an RSS feed from them right now. And the DN is the icon for Dallas Morning News. I got those from their websites. I may stop the RSS feeds from those two papers as 99% of articles are not women's basketball related. And I'm having to moderate and delete those extra 99% of posts.

Commish,
a computer genius I am not, but I wonder if there are selectable RSS feeds for "sports" or even "college sports" that would help cut the clutter. Is this a reasonable assumption?

There are at the university sites and the Big 12 site. Well, all except Texas. I contacted their webmaster and she said an RSS feed is in the works.
I can probably create a perl script or something to search through the sport RSS feeds and only take articles with certain key words. But I won't have the time to do that - for quite a while. Too many higher priority things.
As RSS feeds become more integrated into websites - maybe they will do what you are saying. It would be easy if they would just add an RSS parameter, something like sport="football" or sport="wbasketball" or even something more generic and applicable across many themes if they just did subject="wbasketball" so we can just grab what we want. But that is not a standard at this time. So we just have to wait.

The RSS feeds truly are cluttering up the board for me...don't want to moan and complain but it's hard to find the "real" threads sometimes.

I've noticed a lot more people are at least reading them and more and more HoopScoopers are posting on them as well.

Well, I can share what I do. If it's a RSS feed I don't care about reading I just skip it, read what I want, then go to forum tools and select "Mark this forum read". That way the RSS feeds I wasn't interested in do not show up as unread again.
