This morning I got a notice that says this site contains malware and to enter at my own risk. I visit the site every day, so I don't know why today I got that notice.

Yes, this is interesting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention LadyBuff.

Apparently Google has started to provide warnings about sites that potentially provide "badware" or "malware" to its users. Apparently, Google thinks I'm disemminating vicious software to your computers.

First of all, I do not download any software to your computers. However, it is possible that HoopScoop could have been hacked in some manner and somehow, someway, somewhere, it is possible for you to be taken to another website that contains badware. In fact, Google says that it will flag a website if it contains a link to another website that has badware. Well, many users post many links in this forum to other sites. Sorry, but I cannot control that unless I shut down the forum. And that is not happening.

To me, this is a type of McCarthyism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarthyism) Google has instituted and is an ad hoc solution to prevent the spread of badware on sites. In the process, sites like HoopScoop suddenly find themselves "blacklisted" for what I consider very inappropriate reasons.

My only recourse? To petition for a review at stopbadware.org. Which I've done and which I fully expect to take untill some time in 2008 to be resolved. Oh well. Thanks goodness I'm not a commercial website trying to run a business. I'd be seriously ticked and even consider sueing Google over this. It's ridiculous and only can damage business.

But most of you are long-term members of HoopScoop and know better. That's all that matters.

Bottom-line: keep posting and interacting on HoopScoop. Trust me, I'll keep everyone safe as best I can. And no, I would never maliciously or intentionally download something to your computer.

To be more specific, if you go to Google and type in HoopScoop you will see the warning message given.

If anyone in the process of visiting HoopScoop is suddenly taken to another website - please let me know immediately. Let me know what link you clicked on within HoopScoop - or what part of the website you were visiting at that time.

Thanks.

Yes, it appears that they already reviewed my request and found all is okay.

Now, back to normal operations......
